#83 Running Shoes

Looking Back:
One of the biggest improvements Ruby/Sapphire made to the Pokémon series, at least in my opinion, was the running shoes. I realize how lame that sounds but anyone who has spent a considerable amount of time on the older Pokémon games will agree that being able to run at the touch of a button whenever you want is a very nice improvement. In the older games, you were stuck walking for the first half of the game or so until you got a bike and even then you had to take the bike out of your inventory and couldn't use it everywhere. The running shoes provided a nice easy to use speed boost that you got very early in the game.
That said... In the game they really do come with an instruction manual, and when have you ever seen shoes with an instructional manual? I mean, if people can't figure out how to use their own shoes then they probably shouldn't be buying clothes in the first place. Not to mention that a B button would be a pretty odd design for shoes. Plus, why would you have to press it to run? Do the shoes have weights or something inside that are specifically designed to slow you down and keep you from running unless you push the button? Finally, even if the shoes had a B button and pushing it did help you run, how the heck could you manage to run while pushing and holding down a button on your shoes? Talk about awkward...
