Looking Back:
By now I think I've said enough about the poor motion blurs and the problems of moving text onto a different color background in Paint. There aren't any hugging sprites in Ruby/Sapphire so I had to fake it. Torchic just sort of looks around a bit in this one. If you've watched the anime, you'll know that pokémon have a really complex language but it's comprised entirely of them saying parts of their name in different ways. The way Professor Birch is talking in the third and fourth panels is taken from Star Tropics (a series of Zelda style games Nintendo made back on the NES). In long conversations between characters the dialogue often goes something along the lines of 'blah blah blah Zoda blah blah looking for pizza blah blah blah...' I really liked those games. I hope they revive that series some day, or at least put some of the characters into the next Smash Brothers.
