Looking Back:
Now that Brendan has met May it's time for him to advance the plot some more and get his first pokémon. And that all starts with a cry for help. Of course, the little kid with grassphobia isn't going to actually help, not when it involves going into the grass. As for the joke dialogue, I have to admit that it wasn't entirely original. I got some inspiration for it from both a Simpsons episode and a comic that Brian of 8-bit Theater did. I do tend to pull an occasional name and/or joke from some of my favorite books, comics, etc but I don't directly copy anything and most of the time I change it around a lot. Actually, I kinda like it when people notice the little references I hide in my books and comics. It's just my way of saying "Hey, look! I really like whatever this is referring to!". Then again, there are also some things that look like references but are actually a total coincidence. Of course, while references are fun, it's important not to overdo them. You gotta keep most of your content as original as possible. |
