#282 Pokémon battling advanced

Looking Back:
The green overlay makes the pokémon kind of hard to see, doesn't it? Maybe I should have lightened it up a bit... Anyway, this marks the introduction of the "advanced" rules. It's a rule set I made up based on the way battles are conducted in the Pokémon Adventures manga. Having battles in read time, rather than taking turns, only makes sense when you take the Pokémon world outside of the games. But the other thing that sets Adventures apart is that trainers are frequently right in the middle of battles and, as such, are valid targets. From this point forward, the advanced rules start to take over Pebble Version. Turned based battles disappeared before too long, though in the majority of battles the trainers still sit back and let their pokémon do the fighting. The in-story reason being that most trainers are just too polite to attack each other, though that does change from time to time. On a more practical level, fights involving the trainers are a lot more work to choreograph and do the sprite work so I don't want to be doing them all the time.
