Looking Back:
The kid's dialogue in this strip was pretty much copied straight out of the game. The Pokémon games have lots of rather useless NPCs but this guy is definitely one of the worst. I suppose it might not hurt to have a NPC who explains about gyms for new players. But this guy doesn't tell you anything about the gym other than that you should go in it. And it's not like he's on the other side of town to show you the way to the gym, he's standing right by it. And yes, he really does explain how the big sign that says "GYM" is the gym's sign. Though if there's anyone out there who couldn't figure that out without his explanation, they probably shouldn't be playing video games in the first place... |
